In January 14, 1968, the carriers of the Oakland Raiders jackets met with the Green Bay Packers for the Super Bowl II in Miami at the Orange Bowl. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Oakland Raiders by 33-14.

However, on January 9, 1977, the Oakland Raiders successfully defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the Super Bowl XI played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. In a score of 32-14, the Oakland Raiders defeated the Minnesota Vikings.

After the AFL-NFL merger and under the direction of head coach John Madden, the Oakland Raiders wore their NFL jackets proudly and made it to the AFC Championship game for six times in the nine seasons of 1970-1978, winning only once when they went on to Super Bowl XI after the 1976 season. Not known to those who like to wear their jackets on, it was Jon Gruden a former head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1998-2001, who have defeated the raiders in the Super Bowl XXXVII. His first year with the Buccaneers and just one season after leaving the Raiders in 2002, he led the Bucanneers to the Super Bowl where they had to face his former Raider team. The Oakland Raiders by 48-21 was beaten by the Buccaneers.
